An article describing a protocol for using digital imaging techniques to assess watermarks in books, in particular looking for mould-mates (pairs of moulds used by a team making handmade paper). The technique is described with reference to two codices by Leonardo da Vinci.

This changed his life, and a decade later he left to start on his own at Knott Mill.
