Le Bon Carron. Favoring one Corner when Forming a Sheet of Laid Paper – Don Farnsworth

“Le Bon Carron” here refers to an 18th Century suggestion in Lalande that a vatman or coucher will deliberately drain a mould towards a corner. The author tested the idea, and made caliper measurements of all corners to see whether the practice resulted in a thicker corner, better suited to manipulation of the sheet in a wet state.
