The Fortuna WatermarkPeter Bower

This watermark dates from the early 16th century and was still being used in the early 20th century. Over this time there were obviously significant changes in the design, and papers with the mark were used by a number of significant artists. This article describes some of the papermakers who used the mark, and the artists that used their work.

The Use of Pins in Early Modern England (1450-1700) Jane Giscombe

Pins may seem an unusual topic for a paper journal, but they were a common means of securing multiple sheets of paper together for several centuries, until the advent of the paper clip and the staple. This article argues that archivists should treat them as intrinsic parts of a manuscript, and that they should be saved, and given much more prominence than they are at present.
