Spring Meeting

March 4, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm
£20 – £27

Once again we have booked the Farringdon Room at St.Bride Foundation for our popular Spring Meeting. Please note this is a Tuesday not our usual Wednesday.

When the late Alan Crocker was Chairman, he started the Spring Meeting as an opportunity for members to present topics related to paper in some way, however tenuous, that might be of interest to the rest of the membership.

Holding the meeting on a weekday seems to work well for members and helps with cheaper train fares. We plan to start at 11am with coffee and finish at 5pm with a complimentary glass of wine, there is a break for lunch when delegates can visit the local hostelries or bring their own sandwiches.

Our contributors are:

Peter Bower:  “A Paper miscellany: Poison & Paper, Paper Boats, Paper Mills and other things”
Sue Paul:  “Paper, People, Progress & Power: an investigation into the migration of paper workers: 1785-1921”
Ian Christie-Miller:  “Anne Boleyn and the Armillary Sphere”
Stephen Allen – discussion:  “Vexed Question of Paper Grain in Printed Books”
Alison Muir:  “Paper Manufacture in the North of Ireland”
Alexander Romanov-Hughes:  “The Portrait of Thomas Bonsor Crompton.”
Neil Robertson:  “ShiQiao Papermaking Village, 2024.”

There is an administration charge for the day of £20 to members of BAPH and conservators and members of WHS, £27 to non-members and BAPH joint members.  The wine is included. To avoid collecting money on the day would you please send your cheque, payable to BAPH, before the meeting to:
Rod Morley, 5 Dark Hill, Faversham, Kent.  ME13 7SP

Or you can pay by Direct Transfer into the BAPH bank account using the following: Sort Code: 20 39 53 Account No.: 80216127 (BAPH – Barclays, Leicester)
